Sheep

Curly Stu, Miranda, Molly, Cilla and Uni-eep
A mix of Jacobs and Hebridean sheep, Curly Stu, Miranda, Molly, Cilla and Uni-eep are the oldest group within the flock.
Curly Stu is the oldest and top ram (well, that’s what we tell him).
Jacobs sheep are known for their multiple horns. For example, Uni-eep has 4, one of which sticks straight up! They’ve welcomed any younger rescued sheep to the sanctuary with ease and taken them under their fleece.

Herbie
Herbie came to the Sanctuary as the tiniest dot of an orphan lamb (he’s now 6) and very quickly became attached to people and his teddy bear, Bam-Bam. He enjoyed spending his youth bonding with all the sanctuary animals and helping out with chores on the farm.
Now weighing in at 110kg, he still likes to sit on your lap and get a head massage and some kisses. He’s best friends with the goat twins as they arrived at the Sanctuary at a similar time. The goats have taught Herbie how to butt and if Herbie ever gets in a grumpy mood, he is willing to demonstrate for you (even if you are on opposite sides of the field).

Jupiter and Jellybean
Twin brothers, Jupiter and Jellybean, also arrived as orphan lambs. They were so skinny and weak that we didn’t know if they were going to make it. There were many countless syringe feeds before they could even take a bottle.
They have both thrived since being with us and now weigh in excess of 160kg each. We used to be able pick one up under each arm. Though they are the largest of the flock, they are also among the friendliest of the animals.

Bridget, Montague, Evangeline, Posy, Walter, Watson, Arabel and Mortimer
This group of sheep came to the sanctuary together via another animal sanctuary who was struggling with not enough grass at the time. Happily, we could offer them a place and welcomed them here in 2021. Each of them has a unique personality but they remain thick as thieves with each other, apart from Watson who sometimes gets confused as to what animal he is. This gang will all come running if you shout for the ‘babies’, hopping, skipping and bleating along the way.

Mrs Potter, Mrs Goggins, Mrs Baldry, Raven and Connie
Mrs Potter, Mrs Goggins (and Raven, her lamb) and Mrs Baldry (with Connie, her Lamb) are the most recent sheep to come to the Sanctuary and found their way here after their original owner sadly passed away.
As Herdwicks, they are smaller in stature than most of the sheep here but stouter (think of the little teapot). Raven and Connie are like chalk and cheese. Raven can be a naughty little imp who can Houdini her way into other animal’s hangouts and Connie is very much a mummy’s girl who wouldn’t want to scuff her new shoes!
